The primary goal of this project was to create an immersive awareness campaign for Cecelia Ahern’s novel The Book of Tomorrow. The objective was to reward readers for their loyalty and strengthen the Ahern brand under the slogan: “Cecelia, making every day magical.”
The strategy centered on using augmented reality to build a direct, interactive bridge between the physical book and a dynamic digital world. This approach aimed to transform reading from a passive experience into an active, unfolding journey, mirroring the core themes of the novel itself.
The new edition and reprints from Ahern’s back catalog featured a unique glyph (code) that, when shown to a webcam, revealed a magical augmented world on the surface of the book. Characters inhabiting this world would interact with nearby objects and form relationships with one another. Each new book scanned added a fresh object to the AR environment, attracting more characters and enabling new interactions.
The website showcased an enchanting, romantic visual identity built around a harmonious palette of light blues, pinks, and greens, inspired by classic book illustrations. Users could seamlessly enter the augmented experience by scanning the unique glyphs with their webcams, with each new glyph unlocking expanded events and richer interactions within the virtual world. To ensure accessibility for all readers, we also offered a printable glyph for those with earlier editions of the author’s books, inviting everyone to take part in the evolving digital journey.
